Film bits : The Addams Family film release; Grant Bowler casting; Rob Lowe project

MGM is set to release the “The Addams Family” animated film in October 2019, just in time for creeping out the Halloween crowds. Directed by Conrad Vernon, the film is based on the kooky family made famous by cartoonist Charles Addams. See it in cinemas October 11.

Grant Bowler, who you may remember as the ONLY good host of “The Mole”, is set to star in a supernatural thriller “Bad Impulse”. Via Deadline, the film centres on Henry Sharpe, a loving father who, just days after getting attacked in his own house, is offered the perfect, cutting-edge home security system by a mysterious man. But the very thing Henry hopes will best protect his family drives the Sharpes into their worst nightmare.

Michelle Danner is directing the flick. Co-starring alongside Bowler is Sonya Walger, Paul Sorvino, James Landry Hébert, Stephanie Cayo, Rene Rosado, David Lambert and David Coussins.

Rob Lowe will direct and star in a remake of the 1956 classic “The Bad Seed”. The remake will have a slight twist in that the new picture has a male lead. Lowe will play the father of a young daughter who is the personification of evil, according to Deadline.

The film is based on a best-selling novel by William March that was adapted to a long-running Broadway play. When a terrible tragedy takes place at the father’s (Lowe) daughter Emma’s school, he is forced to question everything he thought he knew about his beloved girl. He slowly begins to question if Emma’s exemplary behavior is just a façade and whether she played a role in the horrific incident. When more strange things begin to happen, he’s faced with keeping a terrible secret to protect Emma, but ultimately must stop her from striking again.

Casting is underway, with production eyeing and early start in 2018.
