The Weinstein Company has released the first image from “Gold” starring Matthew McConaughey and Edgar Ramirez.
The film stars Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey as Kenny Wells, a failing businessman and modern-day prospector desperate for a lucky break. As a last ditch effort, Wells teams up with an equally luckless geologist, played by Edgar Ramirez, to execute a grandiose plan: find gold deep in the uncharted jungle of Indonesia.
The film, written by Patrick Massett & John Zinman, is being directed by Oscar winner Stephen Gaghan and produced and financed by Black Bear Pictures. Black Bear’s Teddy Schwarzman is producing alongside HWY 61’s Michael Nozik, Massett, Zinman, and McConaughey. HWY 61 partner Paul Haggis, Richard Middleton and Black Bear’s Ben Stillman serve as executive producers.
“Gold” will be distributed in the United States by Bob and Harvey Weinstein’s TWC-Dimension and is targeting a Fall 2016 release.
