Ford approached for Blade Runner 2

Harrison Ford has been approached to reprise the role of Rick Deckard in Alcon Entertainment’s “Blade Runner” sequel.

The nugget was mentioned in a press release issued this morning by the studio, which stated that the ageing action hero had been invited back to reunite with director Ridley Scott on the sci-fi sequel to their 1982 film.

“We believe that Hampton Fancher and Michael Green have crafted with Ridley Scott an extraordinary sequel to one of the greatest films of all time. We would be honored, and we are hopeful, that Harrison will be part of our project”, said Alcon Entertainment CEOs Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson.

Ford has expressed interest in reprising the role of Deckard, so will likely agree to follow-up his upcoming “Star Wars” reprise with another go-round of “Blade Runner”.

Question is, does having Ford reprise Deckard take something away from that original? After all, wasn’t it left ambiguous that the lead hero might also be a replicant? An ageing Ford, reprising Deckard, would seemingly obliterate that welcome ambiguity.
