Furious 7 breaking box office records!

As expected, “Furious 7” has opened to astonishing numbers. But initial financial records indicate the box office is even greater than most, including Universal Pictures, expected.

The seventh in the action-adventure series looks to not only break April records, but it’s the tenth biggest opening of all time. The James Wan directed film snared $67.3 million on Friday or $16,000 per screen. There’s been so much demand for the film that some cinemas have been forced to stay open 24 hours, so they can add additional sessions of the movie.

By contrast, “Furious 6” opened to $38.7 million a couple of years ago.

The movie, even if interest does wane in the coming days, looks to score at least $143 million over the Easter long weekend.

It goes without saying, “Fast & Furious 8” is a definite.
