Gina Carano headlines all-female version of Expendables

A female version of “The Expendables” was touted a few weeks back, and now it seems it’s got it’s first recruit : Gina Carano.

The MMA fighter cum actress, who made her feature debut in Steven Soderbergh’s “Haywire”, will headline the film, set up by Adi Shankar’s banner 1984 Private Defense Contractors.

A number of other female genre-staples are said to be also in talks for the film, penned by Dutch Southern.

“I don’t know how I’m supposed to make a movie that is supposed to be the female version of ‘The Expendables’ without Gina Carano in it. It would be like making Twix without caramel or Jamba Juice without jamba,” Shankar tells Variety, who broke the news.

Carano has a choca-bloc year head, she’s also set for “Fast and the Furious 6” and “In the Blood”.
