No more Marnie.
HBO and Lena Dunham have unanimously agreed that the time is right to close down the televisual block belonging to “Girls”.
The sixth season of the series, which will air in 2017 (the fifth airs this year), will be a swansong for the quartet.
Creator and star Dunham hinted at the show going bye-bye soon in an interview in September :
I started working on this show when I was 23, and I’m going to be 30 so it kind of feels right that this show kind of sandwiched my 20s and then I go off into the world.
While not a ratings juggernaut, “Girls” has chalked up a very loyal fan base, won critically acclaim and boosted the profiles of it’s previously-unknown stars – predominantly, Adam Driver, who now plays the villain Kylo Ren in the new “Star Wars” series.
Still, “Girls” the movie, Lena? Maybe?
