Guy Ritchie heads to Dark Castle

Writing & Directing a newie for Joel Silver

Guy Ritchie’s risen from the ashes – “Revolver”, ya see, was burnt to a crisp by critics; the ones that did actually get to see the film – to place a call to Joel Silver. Silver, in turn, has offered to produce his next movie.

In a change of pace, the British-Gangster-Movie vet has signed to write and direct RocknRolla,” an action comedy for Dark Castle (“House on Haunted Hill”, “House of Wax”, “The Reaping”) entertainment.

According to Variety, the film tells of a Russian mobster who orchestrates a crooked land deal, putting millions of dollars up for grabs and attracting all of London’s criminal underworld. A dangerous crime lord, a sexy accountant, a corrupt politician and a band of petty thieves are among those double-crossing one another. Pic’s budget will be under $20 million.

Silver’s found $20 million for Ritchie to do the film with.
