Hannibal casting; can Laurence Fishburne Silence a Lamb!?

Seems the stratagem in Hollywood, if you want to do a race switcheroo on an already established character, begins with first hiring Laurence Fishburne. In addition to Fishburne’s anointment as the new Perry White (a role previously played by greats like Jackie Cooper and Lane Smith), Clark Kent’s employer in “Man of Steel”, comes word from TVline that the “Matrix” and “Assault at Precinct 13” actor is top of the pops to play FBI chief Jack Crawford in “Hannibal”. Crawford was most famously played by Scott Glenn in “Silence of the Lambs” (1991).
It’s not a done deal yet, but Fishburne’s comfortableness with TV, having done “CSI”, and what gravitas he’d bring to not only the role of Crawford but the “Hannibal” series itself should see this one sewn up quick smart.
