Helena Bonham Carter headed to Suffragette

In what promises to prove a stroke of casting genius, Helena Bonham Carter is in talks to join Carey Mulligan in “Suffragette”.

The period film, about the movement that saw women achieve the right to vote, will also star Anne-Marie Duff, who is currently making her Broadway debut in “Macbeth”.

Sarah Gavron will direct the project from a script written by Emmy winner Abi Morgan, who penned “The Iron Lady”.

Co-financed by Pathe Films and Film4, “Suffragette” will be produced by Faye Ward and Alison Owen. It will be executive produced by Film4′s Katherine Butler and Pathe’s Cameron McCracken.
