Hugo Weaving & Ryan Corr join Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge

Hugo Weaving and Ryan Corr have joined Andrew Garfield in director Mel Gibson’s World War II drama “Hacksaw Ridge”.

Vince Vaughn, Sam Worthington, Luke Bracey, Teresa Palmer and Rachel Griffiths co-star in the Australian film from screenwriters Robert Schenkkan, Andrew Knight and Randall Wallace.

Garfield stars in the film as Desmond T. Doss, an American World War II medic who saved 75 soldiers during the Battle of Okinawa without firing a gun. He was the first conscientious objector (someone who claims the right to refuse military service) to win the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Weaving will play Tom Dess, the father of Garfield’s character, and Corr will play Lt. Manville.

Shooting began several weeks ago in Australia.
