Would you pay almost a million dollars for an episode of “Seinfeld”? Hulu would.
The streaming service has reportedly acquired the SVOD rights to the NBC sit-com for just under $1 million (according to Variety – The Wall Street Journal reports the figure at $700,000) per episode. If we do the math, that’s just under $180 million for the full 180 eps!
The deal is expected to be announced at Hulu’s upfront presentation on Wednesday.
In a similar move, Netflix bought the rights to Warner Bros’ hit sit-com “Friends” last year, with the show apparently doing well for the streaming giant. So, maybe Hulu’s on to something here…
