Earlier today, Fox sent over deets for an online Q & A they were hosting for an “Independence Day” sequel. Interestingly, the article referred to the film as “Roland Emmerich’s sequel to Independence Day” suggesting “Independence Day 2”, as a title, had been tossed out.
And whaddyaknow, Fox just announced the film’s official title. Amazing what can happen in a matter of minutes.
“Independence Day : Resurgence”, starring Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner, Angelababy, Maika Monroe, Sela Ward, Jessie Usher and Liam Hemsworth, will hit theaters June 24, 2016.

After that film redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter in the Independence Day universe delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale.
