Jack Black comedy The D Train sells to IFC for $3 million

In news coming out of the Sundance Film Fest, IFC Films has snagged US distribution rights to Jack Black starer “The D Train”.

The $3 million deal saw IFC beat big guns Lionsgate and Fox Searchlight, among others, for the rights to the film.

In their directorial debut, Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel helm a comedy that sees Black’s character put together a high school reunion in a bid to abolish the loser tag he carried around in his former years. Obsessed with landing the most popular guy of the class and now semi-celebrity (James Marsden) to attend the event,  Black’s character gets tangled up in an unexpected one night stand.

Kathryn Hahn, Jeffrey Tambor, Mike White, and Kyle Bornheimer also star in the comedy. Producers are White, Black, Priyanka Mattoo, Ben Latham-Jones, Dave Bernad and Barnaby Thompson.
