Jack Reacher duo Cruise and McQuarrie may reunite for Mission : Impossible 5

Christopher McQuarrie is expected to have another film on his plate – this time “Mission: Impossible – 5”.

Deadline says Paramount, Tom Cruise and produer JJ Abrams all want him to direct it, especially after Cruise seemed to like him at the helm of the forthcoming “Jack Reacher”.

McQuarrie is best known for his scripting abilities (he won the Oscar for “The Usual Suspects”, wrote “The Tourist” and is working on another Cruise film “All You Need Is Kill”), so it’d be a nice score for him to do more directing as well.

He’ll be busy though – “Jack Reacher” is also expected to become a franchise if it resonates with viewers; especially after the initial controversy that Tom Cruise wasn’t the right description to play Lee Child’s original character.

Currently “M:I-5” is still in the very early days of development but a writer is expected to be decided on in the near-ish future.
