Fox are eyeing a Summer start on “The Greatest Showman on Earth”, starring Hugh Jackman as showman and conman P.T Barnum.
The script, by Bill Condon, is an original story not based on anything from history books nor is at an adaptation of a book or earlier film.
Deadline, who broke the news on the possible Summer start for the long-gestating musical, says “the film will tell the story of Barnum’s invention of show business, and his ultimate invention of the three-ring circus.”
Michael Gracie’s film has been in the works for a considerable amount of time, but Jackman’s star-power and the resurgence of the musical has apparently pushed the studio into finally pressing go on the project.
