John Boyega is set to headline Legendary Pictures’ “Pacific Rim” sequel.
Boyega will play the son of Idris Elba’s character from the original film.
Directed by Steven S. DeKnight based on the world created by Guillermo del Toro and Travis Beacham, “Pacific Rim 2” will be produced by Thomas Tull, Mary Parent, Jon Jashni, and del Toro with Boyega and Femi Oguns of Upper Room Productions. Cale Boyter will exec produce.
Production will likely kick off in the fourth quarter.
