John Cena signs up for the Suicide Squad!?

John Cena’s IMDB star-meter rises by the minute.

Next addition to the big guy’s filmography over there looks to be James Gunn’s fiscally-fat superhero thing “The Suicide Squad”. Per Variety, the “Bumblebee” star is being courted for an undisclosed role  – though likely one of the main cats doing the suicide squading – in the sequel-reboot-salvaging.

Warner Bros houses the project, which so far features a roster including Idris Elba (as not Deadshot), Margot Robbie (as Harley Quinn aka Eye Candy), Jai Courtney (as ‘they must have felt obligated to pick up his option’),  and the bound-to-be-cast Michael Rooker – who, let’s admit it, will be bound to be thrown a bone, especially since his old bud Gunn is helming.

The movie, expected to go into production this fall for an August 6, 2021 release, will feature a couple of characters from the 2016 film but most of the core faces will be freshies.

With “Bumblebee”, the “Daddy’s Home” flicks, “Blockers” and the upcoming “Doctor Dolittle” remake with Robert Downey Jr, don’t be surprised if The Rock starts sniffing around Cena’s agent’s office soon. He’s on a roll.
