John Goodman Takes Flight

We’ve been giving you updates on Robert Zemeckis’ thriller “Flight” as we get it (see here & here), sometimes exclusively, and now we’ve another. Jolly Giant John Goodman, who was last seen on TV’s “Damages” and is currently filming “Argo”, has landed a role in the Zemeckis film. The film outs Goodman back in the cockpit – somewhere I don’t believe, though could be mistaken, he has been since 1989’s “Always”.

According to Deadline, Goodman will play a friend of the pilot who helps him come to terms with his problems. Goodman joins a cast that includes Denzel Washington, Don Cheadle, Kelly Reilly, Brian Geraghty and Bruce Greenwood.

Here’s the film’s plot:

FLIGHT tells the redemption story of “Whip” (Washington), a commercial airline pilot who pulls off a heroic feat of flying in a damaged plane, saving 98 lives on a flight carrying 106 people. While the world begs to embrace him as a true American Hero, the everyman struggles with this label as he is forced to hold up to the scrutiny of an investigation that brings into question his behavior the night before the doomed flight.

“Flight” will soar into theaters sometime in 2012.
