Justin Timberlake is Spinning Gold

Well, looks like Justin Timberlake won’t be going back into the studio anytime soon and giving us something new to dance to, but since it’s a movie about music he’ll be working on next, there’s always a chance he could record something for the film’s soundtrack.

As we all know, Timberlake has been acting in films for a while, so if you still don’t like it, get used to it by now. In fact, in the years he’s been acting, I’m actually looking forward to seeing him in “In Time”.

Anyway, Deadline is reporting that Mr. Timberlake will continue to let his acting bug bite him in the neck because he won’t be giving that up just yet. In fact, the former singer has just signed on to star in the feature “Spinning Gold”, a biopic of famous 1970s record producer Neil Bogart, co-founder of Casablanca Records.

The film, written by Tim Bogart, tells the rags-to-riches story of Neil Bogart, a dirt-poor Jewish kid from Brooklyn who went on to become a multimillionaire and help define 1970s pop culture with his Casablanca label that launched the careers of such superstars as KISS, Parliament, Donna Summer, and The Village People. (Break out the YMCA song!)

Tim Bogart, who will also produce with his two brothers and Timberlake, talked about how he met with Timberlake and how they agreed he was right for the role: “we needed an young actor who can carry this picture. When Justin walked into the room, that was the moment I had been waiting for 29 years,” Tim Bogart said. “He has the exact same energy as my father, the same glimmer in his eye.”

The movie will be independently financed but with a major studio-size budget and will begin production before the end of 2012.

So what do you guys think on Timberlake’s casting? Good or bad?
