“In the Heights” actress Leslie Grace has reportedly snagged the title role in HBO Max’s “Batgirl” film.

The film, which Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will direct, will see Grace steps into the shoes of young Barbara Gordon, previously played by Alicia Silverstone in “Batman & Robin”.

According to The Wrap, Haley Lu Richardson (“Five Feet Apart”) and Leslie Grace (“In the Heights”) are the top two contenders testing this week to star as Batgirl in the Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah-directed superhero movie.

Elsewhere, Deadline adds that “Buffaloed” actress Zoey Deutch and Isabella Merced (“Instant Family”) are testing. (The same site reports that Richardson may have bowed out before a screen test).

The film, set up at HBO Max, will be penned by Christina Dodson.

The plot is being kept under wraps but it’s believed this incarnation of Batgirl will be Barbara Gordon, daughter of Comissioner Gordon.
