Lights Out sequel in the works at New Line

New Line is already getting the ball rolling on a sequel to its low-budget horror film “Lights Out”.

According to Deadline, first-time director David F. Sandberg will return to helm the sequel to the movie which was based on a short film he made with his wife Lotta Losten in 2013.

Screenwriter Eric Heisserer will also return to write the sequel and James Wan will be back to produce via Atomic Monster, with Lawrence Grey of Grey Matter.

“Lights Out”, which was made for less than $5 million, has already grossed $27 million domestically and $35 million worldwide after opening Friday.

Teresa Palmer, Gabriel Bateman, Billy Burke, Maria Bello and Losten star in the movie about an evil apparition that attacks when the lights are out.
