Lynch returns to Twin Peaks!

Sounds like Showtime have located that sealed sandwich bag of petty cash they claimed they lost to a disgruntled loan shark.

Yep, David Lynch has reversed on his decision to have nothing to do with the network’s “Twin Peaks” revival. Lynch had walked from directing new episodes of his classic series over a financial dispute – Showtime wouldn’t pony up enough coin to make it worthwhile for him – but thanks to cast, fans, and all-seeing owls, who’ve rallied for his return and fair pay since news of his exit broke, he’s back on.

Lynch, who with co-creator Mark Frost wrote the new batch of episodes, announced his return via a Tweet.

Exciting, right!?

Even better news, Showtime says their deal with Lynch now extends beyond the 9 episodes they originally agreed on – suggesting the season will either be longer, or that Lynch is already a lock for future seasons.

“This damn fine cup of coffee from Mark and David tastes more delicious than ever,” Showtime president David Nevins said in a statement Friday confirming the news. “Totally worth the extra brewing time and the cup is even bigger than we expected. David will direct the whole thing which will total more than the originally announced nine hours. Preproduction starts now!!”

Kyle MacLachlan is signed to reprise his role as Agent Dale Cooper on the show, which is set 25 years after the last episode of the ’90s cult classic.
