Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again begins production

Universal Pictures have announced the beginning of principal photography for “Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again”, the aptly titled sequel to 2007’s “Mamma Mia! The Movie”.

Alongside the original cast returning, newcomer Lily James is also on board to play the role of young Donna (who’s played by Meryl Streep). She joins Amanda Seyfried, Streep, Christine Baranski, Julie Walters, Dominic Cooper, Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgård and Colin Firth in the flick.

The film, written and directed by Ol Parker will go back and forth in time to show how relationships were forged in the past. Alongside James as young Donna, a bunch of other fresh faces have been cast as the younger versions of each character. They include Alexa Davies and Jessica Keenan Wynn as Rosie and Tanya (Walters and Baranski), Jeremy Irvine as Sam (Brosnan), Josh Dylan as Bill (Skarsgård) and Hugh Skinner as Harry (Firth).

The musical comedy is set to hit theatres July 20, 2018.
