Mary Elizabeth Winstead doing double duty on indy circuit

“Live Free or Die Hard” cutie Mary Elizabeth Winstead has signed to headline hubby Riley Stearns’ next directorial project, “Faults”. In addition, the actress – part of this buzzy “The Spectacular Now” movie that’s due out shortly – has been contracted for Chris Messina’s untitled directorial debut with Derek Luke (“Friday Night Lights”).

“Faults”, says Deadline, will see Winstead play “a young cult member whose parents hire an expert to deprogram her, but the expert begins to think they might be more of a threat than the cult.”

The Messina project tells of “an environmental lawyer who is left to raise her 12-year-old son alone after her husband bolts”.

Winstead also recently signed to play the lead in the new Cinemax pilot “Quarry”.
