Mary Elizabeth Winstead talks about her Die Hard 5 part

The visual evidence is already out there, so it’s a hard thing to deny, nevertheless Mary Elizabeth Winstead has confirmed her [brief] involvement in the latest “Die Hard” sequel, “A Good Day to Die Hard”.
Due for release Valentine’s day (because all a girl wants on Feb 14th is a nice, big polished studio blockbuster featuring Russian terrorists!), the film sees Bruce Willis’s ageing hero, John McClane teaming up with his now grown son, Jack (Jai Courtney).

Winstead, who played Willis’s on-screen daughter Lucy in “Live Free or Die Hard” (2007), reprises her role for – I assume – a short sequence in the name of continuity.

Speaking to Collider, the model cum dancer cum actress says she’s glad for offers like the “Die Hard” one, because these big films make it possible for her to also do smaller, more intimate independent projects (like her latest, “Smashed”) down the line.

“It’s another brief supporting role, but it was also fun. I got to go to Budapest and hang out with Bruce [Willis] for a couple of days. It was nice.”

“It’s always been a lot of fun for me, just to be in films that people see and they connect to, bit or small”, said Winstead. “The big ones tend to reach a wider audience, so it’s exciting to feel like you’ve got fans in countries, all over the world, who are watching what you’re doing. That’s really great! The older I get, the more I’m drawn to the smaller films, but I still hope to keep those bigger films in my repertoire. It’s just maybe going to be a shift in focus, but I’ll definitely still hopefully be kicking around in those.”

Winstead also has a small role in the upcoming ”A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charlie Swan III” starring Charlie Sheen.
