Warner Bros slipped a bit of grease on the wheels of a third “Clash of the Titans” flick a year or so back – shortly after the release of that rock-solid slumber party “Wrath of the Titans” – but we’ve heard little about a third Wortho-in-skirt jaunt since then.
As a drunk Santa can attest, sometimes even the greatest plans go awry. Warners, though originally promising a trilogy of “Titans” films, has decided to press pause on the franchise – blaming “300” and “Immortals” for the change of plans.
Producer Basil Iwanyk, who oversaw both “Clash” and “Wrath”, tells IGN that there’s a chance we might still see “We Bought a Zeus : Clash of the Titans 3” but not at the moment.
“In terms of Clash of the Titans 3, it’s one of those situations where we’ve seen it a million times; a movie will kind of float away and then come back when it’s supposed to come back. You’d think that there was three and a half, four years of nonstop Clash of the Titans activity, and I think it is, “Okay, what’s the new idea? How do you make it fresh?” You know, a lot of movies have come out in that world, including Immortals and 300. So there will be a time and place where someone will come up with a great idea for it and how to make it feel different and fresh from the previous ones. Then we’ll hopefully move forward on that.”
With Sam Worthington tied up with “Avatar” sequels until he’s about, oh, 65, Warners might have to go a third one without him if they ever do find an idea worthy enough of celluloid transfer.
