Michelle Williams will play Matthew McConaughey’s wife (or at least, the wife of his character) in the Weinstein Co’s mining drama “Gold”.
Stephen Gaghan is directing from Patrick Massett and John Zinman’s script which is inspired by the events of the 1993 Bre-X Minerals mining scandal, in which vast amounts of gold were reportedly discovered in the Indonesian jungle.
Edgar Ramirez is also starring.
Production has been slated for July in New York, New Mexico and Thailand.
Producers are Teddy Schwarzman, Michael Nozik, Massett, Zinman and McConaughey with Paul Haggis and Richard Middleton exec producing.
