Mommy, the TV man just raped my childhood again! Murder, She Wrote rebooted!

Dillon, you son of a bitch.

Angela Lansbury just dribbled some Metamucil down her blouse, reading that her iconic TV character Jessica Fletcher is about to get a makeover.

NBC has decided that ’80s staple “Murder She Wrote” needs to be redone – and it needs to be redone with Octavia Spencer from “The Help”, apparently.

Spencer, says Deadline, will play ”a hospital administrator and amateur sleuth (Spencer) who self-publishes her first mystery novel. Set in a day where sensational headlines inundate the news, this woman’s avid fascination with true crime leads her to become an active participant in the investigations.”

Okay, so I get the ‘remake’ or ‘reboot’ thing, I get it, I do, there’s a brand there to exploit, but why insult Lansbury and the many, many fans of that beloved original by simply ‘redoing’ what’s already been done. Take the “Murder, She Wrote” stencil, heck, even take the original theme tune, but don’t just do it again.

Now it’s said that Lansbury has been approached to be involved, but that doesn’t necessarily mean she’ll be co-starring.

Anyway, suppose I better save up some fuel for this inevitable “Magnum P.I” reboot with Mos Def.
