Natalie Dormer to lead Picnic at Hanging Rock

Foxtel has revealed the cast of it’s upcoming event drama “Picnic at Hanging Rock”, with “Game of Thrones” actress Natalie Dormer in a starring role.

The six-part series is based on Joan Lindsay’s novel about the mysterious disappearances of three schoolgirls and one teacher on Valentine’s Day 1900.

Dormer will play English headmistress Mrs Hester Appleyard opposite Lola Bessis, Yael Stone, Anna McGahan and Sibylla Budd as the school’s teachers. The students will be played by Lily Sullivan as Miranda Reid, Madeleine Madden as Marion Quade, Samara Weaving as Irma Leopold, Ruby Rees as Edith Horton and Inez Curroas Sara Waybourne.

Don Hany, Harrison Gilbertson, James Hoare, Marcus Graham, Mark Coles Smith, Jonny Pasvolsky, Philip Quast, Emily Gruhl, John Flaus, Ros Gentle, Julie Nihill, Kaarin Fairfax, Randall Berger, Mayah Fredes, Alyssa Tuddenham, Kate Bradford, Bethany Whitmore, Markella Kavenagh, Felix Johnson, Ines English, Huw Higginson, Rob Jacobson and Kim Gyngell round out the cast.

Production will kick off in Victoria, Australia later this month.
