Natalie Portman Wanted for Jupiter Ascending

Natalie Portman was all over the place last year and in 2010 thanks to her performance and many awards she won during her “Black Swan” run, and although she had other films out afterwards, i.e. “Your Highness” being one of them, she hasn’t done much since on-screen after giving birth to her son back in June with fiance Benjamin Millipied (who choreographed & co-starred with Portman in “Black Swan”).

But it looks like all that could soon change and we’ll be seeing Portman back on the silver screen.

The L.A. Times 24 Frames is reporting that Portman is being courted by Lana and Andy Wachowski to star in “Jupiter Ascending,” a science-fiction movie the filmmakers aim to shoot when they finish cutting their much-anticipated “Cloud Atlas.” Portman is said to seriously be weighing taking the part.

“Jupiter,” a Warner Bros. project whose plot details have remained tightly under wraps, would reunite Portman with the “Matrix” filmmakers after the two collaborated on the graphic-novel adaptation “V for Vendetta” back in 2006. And “Jupiter” tentatively aims to start production in the fall of 2012.

Meanwhile, Indiewire is also reporting that Portman is planning a documentary around author Jonathan Safran Foer book “Eating Animals,” which Portman credits with making her go vegan. “Well, Natalie Portman is going to make a movie of it. She wants to make a very personal documentary. She contacted me, she told me that she loved the book. I know her now, I will help her eventually, but it will be her vision. She’s only at the very beginning,” Foer said.
