Nicolas Cage joins thriller Vengeance: A Love Story

Nicolas Cage is set to headline Hannibal Classics’ thriller “Vengeance: A Love Story” from director Harold Becker.

John Mankiewicz adapted the screenplay from Joyce Carol Oates’ 2003 novel “Rape: A Love Story.”

The story centres on “the aftermath of a victim of gang rape, left for dead in a park boathouse. The victim is a single mother in her 30s, and the attack is witnessed by her daughter. A policeman who is a Gulf War veteran becomes her unexpected champion” (via Variety).

Richard Rionda Del Castro of Hannibal Classics and Michael Mendelsohn of Patriot Pictures will produce. Patricia Eberle will exec produce.

The shoot will get underway in March in Atlanta.
