No amount of Payola can save Vinyl; HBO series won’t get second season

No surprise here. HBO has decided it’s time to make “Vinyl” a thing of the past.

The once promising series, a record industry expose from from executive producers Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger, won’t be back for a second season. Ratings and reviews for the show, starring Bobby Cannavale as a record exec out to save his label, were lukewarm at best.

“After careful consideration, we have decided not to proceed with a second season of Vinyl”, the network said in an announcement. “Obviously, this was not an easy decision. We have enormous respect for the creative team and cast for their hard work and passion on this project.”

Aside from the shitty reviews and the lackluster Nielsens, the show apparently cost a boatload to make so no surprise HBO decided to pocket the cash for something a little more worthy.
