Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav announced via an earning’s call they’re doing another

Director Peter Jackson and his writing partners Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, who mastered the original Lord of the Rings film trilogy and its prequel series of movies, have weighed in on today’s news that New Line and Warner Bros plan to bring a new live-action Lord of the Rings movie to life.

The trio, who the trade remind us did not take part in the Amazon Studios series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, tell Deadline :

“Warner Brothers and Embracer have kept us in the loop every step of the way. We look forward to speaking with them further to hear their vision for the franchise moving forward.

In other words, there’s a fair chance the trio will be involved.

Earlier today, Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav announced via an earning’s call that New Line and WB have inked a new multi-year agreement with Embracer Group AB’s Middle-Earth Enterprises to team on new films set on Middle Earth.

New Line and Warner Bros Animation are currently in production on The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, an original anime set 183 years before the events in The Lord of the Rings. It’s not known whether the live-action film will be set in the same time period.
