Pyun talks Napoleon project

We have an update on our ‘Napoleon’ piece from earlier this week, with directing talent Albert Pyun adding some more information on what will truly be his biggest project to date and one which has the potential to be an absolute epic.

Via a posting on his Facebook page, Albert has said: “The screenplay covers the period in Napoleon’s life from the battle in Sardinia in 1793 to his release from house arrest in 1794. It was a chaotic period in France history and Napoleon rose to power in these tumultuous era. I estimate needing at least 35 shooting days and I need to raise 10-12 million to afford a star cast and to bring the screenplay to the screen. I’ll shoot digital but every scene on practical sets. No green screen except a bit in the battle scenes. I sent the screenplay to Nu Boyana Studios in Bulgaria to get their budget. I’ll use a mostly Bulgarian crew except for DP, First AD and, maybe, editor. It’ll be critical to assemble the film as I shoot. I’ll send the screenplay to Van Damme once I hear back from several distributors about how they see the project.”

The screenplay is a fast-paced one and has three large-scale battles, with Pyun stating it reads like a star vehicle. Albert’s wife, Cynthia, is currently editing the script, with potential distributors reading it in Paris by the end of the week.

We really hope Albert’s movie comes off for him. He not only deserves to bow out on a high, but for audiences and producers to see what he can achieve with some real cash, the outcome will surely blow people’s minds.
