The series will tell of “a day trader with a massive gambling problem who is fired from his job six months after a bad trade costs his firm millions. Shut out of the job market, he and his wife move to Brooklyn. There, Paul finds an unlikely partner, expectant father Marino (Anthony Carrigan), to start a high-end bookie business.” [Deadline]
“Being John Malkovich” duo Charlie Kaufman and Spike Jonze are reteaming on an untitled satire about world leaders who try and predict major events before they happen. [Deadline]
Ed Burns will star in “40“, an ensemble comedy for HBO and creator Doug Ellin (“Entourage”). The show will tell of a group of New Yorkers “who help each other navigate life at 40, which isn’t all they expected it to be.” [TV Guide]
Jenna Elfman will star in the new sitcom “Bad Mom“, an ABC effort about a mother who is forced to start taking care of her children on her own and without her own mother, who has essentially raised the kids up until now. [THR]
“Twilight” and “Off the Map” star Rachelle Lefevre will star in the new NBC drama “The Crossing“,”set in a Missouri town during the post-Civil War Reconstruction era and centers on Jason, a Civil War soldier who crosses the country and settles into a complicated town where he is welcomed as its savior”. Should ABC’s “Off the Map” get a second season Lefevre won’t be able to do the series. [THR]

Judd Apatow doesn’t know whether Katherine Heigl’s character will be back for the “Knocked Up” spin-off – that will concentrate on Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann’s characters from the film – but “there definitely will be other people from Knocked Up in the movie.” Apatow says the film will be set five years after “Knocked Up”. ”People were really taken by those characters. I think people really emotionally connected to the challenges of their marriage and I thought, you know, they were only a small portion of the movie. I’m a television writer so I always want another episode. I always want another 80 episodes. That’s why after Forgetting Sarah Marshall, we said, “What else can we do with this character Russell Brand has created here?” I felt that way about Pete and Debbie from Knocked Up”. [Screen Junkies]
