Robert Downey Jr signs on for Avengers 2 and Avengers 3

Money talks or the Iron Man walks.

Fortunately for Disney, it did and he didn’t.

Robert Downey Jr has negotiated a deal that’ll see him reprise Tony Stark/Iron Man for two “Avengers” sequels, Marvel tell us.

It was reported Downey, as well as some of his “Avengers” co-stars, were holding out for more money (not at all surprising considering how tight Marvel are said to be) before they agreed to do the Joss Whedon-directed sequel.

With production now set for March, 2014 on the first of the two “Avengers” sequels, it’d be seem Disney has met Downey and co’s number.

No word yet on whether this new deal includes an option to utilize Downey for an “Iron Man 4”.

“The Avengers 2”, due 2015, will see the cast of characters from the 2012 joined by two new recruits, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.
