Jay Baruchel, currently wearing the baddie badge for Sony and MGM’s “RoboCop” remake, will play the male protagonist in a film version of Stephen King’s “The Ten O” Clock People”.
Tom Holland (“Child’s Play”, “Fright Night”) will helm the picture, which ” tells of a smoker (Baruchel) who returns to his old habit with a cessation drug still in his system, triggering a side effect that reveals a frightening reality in which many people in authority are monsters.”
The Hollywood Reporter says a June start is being eyed in Baruchel’s hometown of Montreal.
Baruchel, whose other credits include “How to Train Your Dragon”, “She’s Out of My League”, “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”, and “This is the End”, will executive produce.
King’s “10 O’Clock People” was a short story that originally appeared in his “Nightmares & Dreamscapes” anthology.
