“Carol” star Rooney Mara is in talks to play Mary Magdalene in Universal Pictures International and See-Saw Films’ biopic of the historical spiritual figure.
Garth Davis is directing the film from Helen Edmundson and Philippa Goslett’s script. Production will kick off this summer for an anticipated release in 2017.
Magdalene was said to have been a devoted follower of Jesus Christ who witnessed both his crucifixion and resurrection.
