Though likely just a grunt of interest has overcome him, Arnold Schwarzenregger’s said to be quietly considering the long-gestating third “Conan” movie.
“King Conan : Crown of Iron”, which ‘Conan’ filmmaker John Milius has been trying to get up for years, may have a new lease on life with The Arnold Fans suggesting the former politico is quite keen to revisit the property.
One would’ve assumed that Millennium films’ piss-poor “Conan” remake, released last year, would’ve killed all chance – and Schwarzi-interest – on that one.
Meanwhile, “Twins” director Ivan Reitman is downplaying suggesting that “Triplets”, that would reunite Schwarzenegger and Danny De Vito and possibly bring in Eddie Murphy to play a long-lost third brother, is a sure thing.
Speaking to Collider, Reitman – also suggesting “Ghostbusters” will probably end up being rebooted, rather than sequelized – the producer/director said “I’m quite nervous about it. I think it’s somebody’s commercial idea, and usually that’s a scary thought. There’s no writer, and there’s no idea yet. I think that was more of a press release than anything else.”
Don’t hold out hope, ‘Twins’ fanatics.
One sequel we might see though is “Commando 2”, which Schwarzenegger apparently speaks to Empire Magazine about this month.
One Arnold Fans reader, who snagged his issue two-days early, says “Apparently there’s a Commando 2 script, which Steven De Souza wrote with Frank Darabont, which includes a sequence where Matrix hangs off a helicopter while another chopper below attempts to chop his legs off! General Kirby is now rogue and has teamed up with a Panamanian drug lord and Matrix has to infiltrate a hi-tech building with a security system that he himself designed. De Souza believes the sequel may still happen!”
Now, if I recall correctly, that script wad retooled and turned into “Die Hard”. But whatever the case, whose to say the world ain’t big enough for two (or three) heroes-in-a-building film?
