Spamalot movie, with Eric Idle scripting, in the works

A movie adaptation of the Broadway musical “Spamalot” is on the fast-track at Fox with Monthy Python’s Eric Idle producing and scripting.

According to Deadline, Tony Nominee Casey Nicholaw, director of the newly-opened “Mean Girls” musical, is set to helm the film – a musical based on the Arthurian legend that informed the 1975 classic Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

“Spamalot” will start casting shortly with shooting expected to begin next spring.
