Spider-Man caught up in a Civil War Odyssey

Producing partners Tobey Maquire and Matthew Plouffe have landed themselves a new project.

The pair have snapped up the rights to Peter Carlson’s book “Junius and Albert’s Adventures in the Confederacy: A Civil War Odyssey”.

Set in the 19th century, the book follows the story of two journalists, Junius Henri Browne and Albert Deane Richardson, who are captured by Confederate soldiers and imprisoned for working for the pro-abolitionist New York Tribune. After doing time in seven different camps over 20 months, the pair finally escape from North Carolina, now facing a freezing trek of more than 400 miles to safety.

Published by PublicAffairs/Perseus in 2013, Maguire and Plouffe will produce the film through their Material Pictures.
