Spielberg : Harrison Ford staying on as Indiana Jones

Despite rumours that Lucasfilm might want to nudge Indiana Jones’s fedora out of Harrison Ford’s grip and into the hands of a younger actor (Chris Pratt has been rumoured as a possible replacement) series producer Steven Spielberg doesn’t think it possible. As far as he’s concerned, Ford remains Indy.

Speaking to Screen Daily, the director of “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and it’s three sequels said :

“I don’t think anyone could replace Harrison as Indy. I don’t think that’s ever going to happen. It’s certainly not my intention to ever have another actor step into his shoes in the way there have been many actors that have played Spider-Man or Batman. There is only going to be one actor playing Indiana Jones, and that’s Harrison Ford.”

Well, there you have it – no Chris Pratt as Indiana Jones. Not next year, anyway. Unless, of course, they make him Indiana’s half-cousin Missouri. Disney and Lucasfilm are said to be developing a fifth “Indiana Jones” film – with the irreplaceable Harrison Ford set to reprise the role – but there doesn’t seem to have been much progress made on said sequel of late.
