Principal photography has begun for “SpongBob Squarepants 3”, with the flick given probably the coolest name ever – “The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie: It’s a Wonderful Sponge”. While plot details haven’t officially been revealed, word is the film will be a prequel – the origin story will take place at Camp Coral, revealing how he meets some of his very best friends like Patrick Star and Sandy Squirrel.
Tim Hill will direct the film, who is also known for his work on the TV series. Back to lend their voices to the film are Tom Kenny, Bill Fagerbakke, Rodger Bumpass, Clancy Brown, Mr. Lawrence, Jill Talley, Carolyn Lawrence, Mary Jo Catlett, and Lori Alan. Composer Hans Zimmer will also be providing the music.
SpongeBob is currently in its 12th season on Nickelodeon, and the third movie will sadly mark the first since the passing of creator Stephen Hillenburg in November last year.
“The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie: It’s a Wonderful Sponge” will hit cinemas July 17, 2020.
