The on-again off-again on-again “Rambo 5” would seem to be off again in light of today’s reports that Sylvester Stallone is bringing his iconic character to the small screen.
According to Deadline, Stallone will executive produce and likely co-star in a TV spin-off of the popular films that will fix on the bandana-wearing Vietnam vet and his son, an ex-Navy SEAL.
Jeb Stuart (“Die Hard”) is writing “Rambo : New Blood” for Entertainment One and Millennium Films.
A TV take on “Rambo” has been on the cards for a couple of years, though Stallone wasn’t previously involved in previous attempts.
Stallone had been working on a fifth “Rambo” film, “Rambo : Last Blood” but it seems to have been put on ice for the time being.
