Star Trek 4 boldy goes where no Star Trek has gone before – with a female director

“Star Trek 4” is making history, assigning S.J. Clarkson to the director’s chair – making her the first female director in the franchise’s history. News from CinemaCon was that Paramount is working on a fourth film with Chris Hemsworth (who played Chris Pine’s father in the 2009 film), and Zachary Quinto also returning.

The other “Star Trek” film with J.J. Abrams and Quentin Tarantino is said to be after the 4th film, reports Variety.

While details of the flick are being kept under wraps at this stage, sources are saying a key plot point sees Pine’s character running into his father (Hemsworth) in a time travel ploy. J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay penned the screenplay.

Clarkson is best known for her work on the TV scene with shows such as “Dexter,” “Bates Motel,” “Orange is the New Black,” and “Jessica Jones.” Girl power!
