Star Trek star boards Total Recall

Another victim for Len Wiseman’s “Total Recall” rape-a-thon : John Cho.
The “Harold and Kumar” and “Star Trek” star is playing ”McClane, the smooth-talking rep for the mind-messing company that tempts Colin Farrell’s Douglas Quaid to implant fantastic memories into his brain”, says EW. Funny… I assumed that was the role that Ethan Hawke (said to be only playing a small role in the reboot of the 1990 flick) would be playing.
Yesterday we reported that Jessica Biel, Kate Beckinsale and Bill Nighy had been roped in (well, Beckinsale wouldn’t take much to rope in – – maybe just a pinky promise from her beau Darren that he’ll put out the trash for the next fortnight) to the Colin Farrell starrer. Beckinsale plays Doug Quaid’s (Farrell) rebel-fighter love interest; Beckinsale plays fake baddie wife Lori; and Nighy plays Quatto. Bryan Cranston is already set to play villain Cohaagen.
Maybe I’m jumping the gun here but none of these names (not even Farrell) really excite… not like that original roster which featured the likes of Marshall Bell, Ronny Cox, Michael Ironside and, stunning newcomer Sharon Stone (then best known as ‘Mahoney’s love interest’ from “Police Academy IV”). Though it’s probably not the fault of the cast that’s got me all ‘I’ll only see it if they’re giving out free popcorn’ but who they’ve got directing.. I can’t think of one Len Wiseman film I’ve liked. Yes, that includes “Underworld”.
