Stephen King approves Doctor Sleep team for Revival adaptation!

While “Doctor Sleep” mightn’t have set the box-office on fire, author Stephen King was seemingly chuffed with the film itself – and as a result, Mike Flanagan’s nabbed another job with the horror maestro.

King has thumbs-upped the hiring of Flanagan and co-writer Trevor Macy to adapt King’s 2014 novel, “Revival”.

Like “Doctor Sleep”, “Revival” is housed at Warner Bros who’ll produce alongside Flanagan and Macy’s Intrepid Pictures.

The novel focused on the relationship between a heroin-addicted musician and a dubious faith healer with a hidden agenda. The minister is obsessed with trying to find a way to communicate with his departed wife and child but ends up connecting to a Lovecraftian horror.

“New Mutants” director Josh Boone had a stab at penning an adaptation of “Revival” a ways back.

King’s “Doctor Sleep” was a sequel to horror classic ”The Shining”. The movie didn’t perform as well as the parties would have liked — it only grossed $72 million worldwide — and hopes for a prequel or sequel were dashed.
