SyFy greenlights series based on The Expanse

SyFy, the network who offered classic science-fictioner “Battlestar Galactica” a rebirth a few years back, are getting back into the space-set serial business.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network has commissioned straight-to-series a new series based on the book series “The Expanse”. 18 Episodes of the James S.A Corey book series have been greenlit.

The drama is described as a thriller set 200 years in the future and follows the case of a missing young woman who brings a hardened detective and a rogue ship’s captain together in a race across the solar system to expose the greatest conspiracy in human history.

Oscar-nominated screenwriters Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (”Children of Men”, ”Iron Man”) are attached as writers and exec producers.
