The King is Undead, long lived the King

Most tyro scribes are happy enough to see their script optioned or, if they’re very lucky, turned into a film starring Wings Hauser or Bruce Davison. It’s very rare that a newcomer to the screenwriting game has his script optioned swiftly and has big A-listers interested in doing their introductory piece – but then, I suppose most writing newcomers aren’t ‘Michael Scolfield’ from mother-hopping “Prison Break”, are they!?

You’ll remember reading a while back that Wentworth Miller, star of the one-time TV blitzer “Prison Break”, had carved out a new career for himself as a screenwriter; you might also recall hearing that one of the projects Miller has been working on is a film called “Stoker”. The Daily Mail is reporting that the film may be a vampire movie starring… Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth! And if that comes to pass, it’s ‘hello money!’, for Mr Miller!

The film, which will also star Australian Mia Wasikowska (“Alice in Wonderland”), tells the story “of a girl called India and her mother who are visited by a mysterious uncle after India’s father dies.”

With the film reportedly inspired by Bram Stoker’s “Dracula”, one might be correct in assuming that Firth is playing a bloodsucker in this one, in which case I’m taking bets on who’ll be the first film magazine to slap the title ‘The King’s Teeth’ on its cover.
