3. Sony Pictures announced today that it’s making a 3D film showcasing London-based global music sensation One Direction. Acclaimed documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock (”Super Size Me”) will direct the film, which TriStar Pictures will release on August 30, 2013 (Labor Day weekend).

Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Anne Heche are teaming to produce “Bad Judge”, a female-centered comedy for NBC. “It centers on a hard-living, sexually unapologetic woman who plays with the law, and whose life on the edge is constantly in balance as she also happens to be a judge in the Criminal Court system.”

Elizabeth Henstridge (”The Thompsons”) and Iain De Caestecker (”The Fades”) have joined the cast of Joss Whedon’s “S.H.I.E.L.D” pilot. “Henstridge will play science whiz Agent Gemma Simmons, while De Caestecker will play Agent Leo Fitz, a technology guru. The duo spend all their time together — mostly bickering — and are masters of their respective fields at a remarkably young age.”
